At Home Dad アットホーム・ダッド – Release April 04

Kumo Japan Drama sneak!!

Japan Drama Story:

Yamamura Kazuyuki (Abe Hiroshi) 阿部寛 who works as a director producing commercial advertisement suddenly lost his job. He just moves in to a new house with his family when this incident happened. While searching for a new job, his wife Yamamura Miki (Shinohara Ryoko) 篠原涼子 was able to find a job before him. Under this situation, Yamamura Kazuyuki (Abe Hiroshi) 阿部寛 has to stay at home doing house wife work while his wife takes on the 9 to 5 job. This condition suppose to be temporally until Yamamura Kazuyuki (Abe Hiroshi) 阿部寛 found a new job. This temporally condition turns out to be quite a long time. As Yamamura Kazuyuki (Abe Hiroshi) 阿部寛 never participate in a house wife work before, he faces lots of difficulties. Luckily his neighbor Sugio Yusuke (Miyasako Hiroyuki) 宮迫博之, a husband that stays at home doing house wife work was able to help him.

Feelings and Comments:

The concept of man working outside and woman staying at home taking care of children may not be applicable nowadays. Solely depends on just a single income might be risky. For some parents, both husband and wife need to work in order to earn enough for the living. Changes need to be done in order to survive the world right now. It does not matter if it is a house wife work or a husband’s responsibility, both husband and wife have to work together to get through the day. It’s for the sake of the children and family, it doesn’t matter who does it as long as it is been taking care of. This drama explains it all. Listen to the song carefully when it plays in between the drama. The lyric is very meaningful, specially dedicated to men.

Things that caught my eyes:

Having to stay at houses like that in Japan should be very expensive. It’s a strange feeling to see Abe doing all work of house wife.

Japan Drama Rating:

Nice to watch. This drama is suitable for families and couples that just married.

About twelve years ago, I met a Canadian guy who had a passion for learning japanese and drinking in all facits of the culture. He was a good friend of mine. I predicted he would end up marrying a japanese. He was planning to move there. I expect he loved it because I don't believe he ever left. Although I don't speak much japanese, I appreciate the food and culture. Kyoto is one of my favorite places. Its so very serene!
