Honjitsu mo Hare Ijo Nashi本日も晴れ。異状なし– Release Jan 09

Kumo Japan Drama sneak!!

Japan Drama Story:
Shirase Ryo (Sakaguchi Kenji) 坂口憲二 voluntarily transferred to Narumi as a stationary policeman. Narumi is a small populated island without any doctor, police and some other public facilities. As there isn’t much development in this island, there are more people moving out from the island then staying. Shirase Ryo (Sakaguchi Kenji) 坂口憲二 used to be an elite detective in Shinjuku. Due to a mistake that he did in an investigation, he get to know about the island call Narumi from a song. That is how he gets to know the island and decided to transfer there. He believes that no matter how small a place it is, problems exist and there is a need of a policeman. The people in Narumi have been staying there long without any policeman. The sudden appearance of Shirase Ryo (Sakaguchi Kenji) 坂口憲二 stir up a lot of problem but also helps improve the quality of life in the island.

Feelings and comments:
The main attraction of this drama is definitely is the beautiful island scenery. This drama is similar with another drama call Dr. Koto Shinryojo. Instead of a doctor but a policeman travel the whole island on a bicycle.
We all make mistakes, and that includes policeman. It is also true that we cannot fix everything and save everybody. All we can do it try our best to fix and save as much as we can. The important thing is that we take the effort to make things right and try to make a change. As all these action and feelings will eventually influence others to step in and join in. That’s the power that change things and it can be done even if just started out by a person. If you ever read any famous historical legends like George Washington, Martin Luther King or Gandhi, then you’ll know that they all started small but end up big.

Things that caught my eyes:
The beautiful scenery of the small island is the attraction. Not to mention the sugar cane and sheep that occupied most area of the island.

Japan Drama Rating:
Interesting to Watch. It’s a simple story with warm hearted scenes, suitable for family and kids.

BOSS– Release April 09

Kumo Japan Drama sneak!!

Japan Drama Story:
Osawa Eriko (Amami Yuki) 天海祐希 is assign as the boss of special anti crime division in the police department. Thanks to her friend Nodate Shinjiro (Takenouchi Yutaka) 竹野内豊, she is able to get this position for her chance to show her ability once again. Unfortunately the main purpose of this division is just a show for the media that the police department is doing something to fight criminals. The stuff that this division gets is those that are unwanted or trouble individuals in other division. Even so, these unwanted detectives are very much capable of doing their job. As the boss of the special anti criminal division, Osawa Eriko (Amami Yuki) 天海祐希 is needs to lead and make full use of these problem detectives.

Feelings and comments:
The main attraction of this drama is the case that connects with each of the characters. As this drama is full with strong cast, some of the characters that they represent have a story to tell. Which I think that makes the story line interesting. It also creates chances for casts to show their acting ability. I suppose that makes each character in this drama to have a strong personality.
A talented female boss is a rare scene, especially in the world of crime fighting. There is always a time when we need to choose between career or family. It is said that we are now living in a world that women are treated equality as men, but still there are many areas and places which equal does not apply. Perhaps that’s because men and women are different.

Things that caught my eyes:
I think I’m going to remember the building that represents headquarter of the Japan police department. I’ve seen it in the previous detective drama and I think I’m going to see it in my next drama. The final guest that appears in the final case really is a surprise.

Japan Drama Rating:
Worth watching. It’s not about the detective story but the strong cast of this drama which makes it attractive. It’s all about talented acting.

Kiinaキイナ– Release Jan 09

Kumo Japan Drama sneak!!

Japan Drama Story:
Haruse Kiina (Kanno Miho) 菅野美穂 is a detective in a special unit within police investigation department. She is in charge for all extra ordinary cases which related to alien, ghost, Voodoo, poltergeist and unexplainable phenomenal. Those cases might seem strange but in fact these are difficult criminal cases. Even so she is able to explain and solve all the cases using scientific approach. Her photographic memory which enables her to remember every detail of the crime scene is the key to her success.

Feelings and comments:
Like most detective drama, cases involves eventually determines the viewers rating. All the cases in this drama are base on real life cases. That is why each episode is unique and special. The only thing that I feel annoying is that Haruse Kiina (Kanno Miho) 菅野美穂 has to read through lots of books before solving the case. Luckily she is able to do that within few minutes. Plus there are lots of lectures and explanation regarding the strange phenomena that occurs within each case.
It is true that science can explain lots of strange things that happen around us, still there are certain things that science cannot explain. We might not understand now but perhaps in future. Even so every single thing happened with a reason. Most of the things that we listen or heard might not be true. That is because human lie but evidence doesn’t. We just have to assume nothing but follow the evidence.

Things that caught my eyes:
Kiina’s photographic memory way of solving crime sure is interesting. Having able to read lots of books in just few minutes really is convenient.

Japan Drama Rating:
Worth watching. All of the criminal cases described in this drama are special. That’s makes the story line interesting.

Walkin' Butterflyウォーキン・バタフライ– Release July 08

Kumo Japan Drama sneak!!

Japan Drama Story:
Torayasu Michiko (Nakabeppu Aoi) 中別府葵 hates being tall. Ever since she’s in high school her height is the main reason that she can’t get a boy friend. After graduated she seems to have difficulties in getting jobs because of her height too. Her life was miserable until she met Mihara Ko (Toba Jun) 鳥羽潤, a fashion designer that triggers Torayasu Michiko (Nakabeppu Aoi) 中別府葵 to step foot into the world of modeling. Her life began to change from that moment onwards.

Feelings and comments:
Being a model is not easy. Just take a look at America’s next top model and you’ll know how difficult it is to survive in this industry. I suppose the first criteria that you need to become a model are height. You can work hard in everything but the height. In this drama we can see how a model is created and trained.
This drama reminds me of the story of ugly duckling. I suppose there is actually no ugly person but only lazy person. If you put your mind into it and work hard, anybody can be good looking. It’s not just the appearance that we have to work hard but also our own personality and characteristic. This is what we call the inner beauty which can be obtained from knowledge and experience.

Things that caught my eyes:
This drama makes Torayasu Michiko (Nakabeppu Aoi) 中別府葵 “tall”, really “tall”. It is interesting to link this drama with the movie Flying Rabbits. Each char in the movie can be seen in each episode of the drama.

Japan Drama Rating:
Fun to watch. The reaction and acting of Torayasu Michiko (Nakabeppu Aoi) 中別府葵 in this drama really is funny.

Mei Chan no Shitsujiメイちゃんの執事– Release Jan 09

Kumo Japan Drama sneak!!

Japan Drama Story:
Shinonome Mei (Eikura Nana) 榮倉奈々once lives as daughter of a poor family that sells ramen. After the sudden death of both her parents, a butler name Shibata Rihito (Mizushima Hiro) 水嶋ヒロ came to her. She was informed that she is the granddaughter of a rich and famous family. Suddenly her life changes as she needs to transfer to St. Lucia Girls' Academy where all the daughters of the rich and famous learn to become lady. With the help of her talented butler and her childhood friend Shibata Kento (Sato Takeru) 佐藤健, she starts her first school day wearing a pair of glasses with long jersey pants under the skirt.

Feelings and comments:
Lately the butler trend seems to be all around anime, manga and drama. The topic about talented butler that can handle almost anything seems to be attracting a lot of fans. I suppose it’s every girls dream to have a talented handsome butler that able to serve you any way you want. Normally only the rich and famous are able to hire such expensive butler service. It might seem to be really cool to have a butler but that might not be a good thing. A butler is needed because parents don’t have much time around or unable to take care of their kids. Perhaps butler is the closes person compare to families. This we can see it from the drama.
Being the lady of rich and famous is not easy. One thing for sure, expectation is high thus things that you’ll need to learn will be very much different from ordinary person. That’s the same as being the prince or princess of a country. You’re not just learning to survive in this world but also to face the world as everybody will be watching.

Things that caught my eyes:
The formal dress code of butler and the school uniform is very fashionable and attractive, especially the skirts. As for the butlers, they all dress up differently but still look formal and nice.

Japan Drama Rating:
Fun to watch. It’s like the girl version of Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. The difference is that this drama has both good looking young girls and boys too.
